Our Founders

Adele Getty

Director & Co-Founder

A pioneering movement maker in the field of psychedelic education, Adele has spent decades exploring the history of psychedelics across global cultures and in the modern-day expansion of consciousness and psychological wellness. Through studies of psychology, anthropology, ceremony, and human history, she has quietly created a groundswell of progress helping to move the healing effect of the psychedelic experience forward.

Adele was a founding member of the Guild of Guides, bringing together pioneering experts in the field of assisted psychedelic healing. Her contributions have earned respect from psychedelic researchers and organizations as well as the trust and support of global leaders in both innovative and traditional healing modalities. She believes modern people must find their way into proper rites of initiation, rites of passage, and community-building aided by ceremony.

Her book “A Sense of the Sacred: Finding our Spiritual Lives Through Ceremony” addresses this process in detail. She is also the author of “Goddess: Mother of Living Nature,” which depicts 35,000 years of cross-cultural images of the divine feminine and the historical implications of matrifocal cultures. Excerpts from her upcoming “Messages From the Underground and Other Elephants in the Room” have been previewed in Lucid News and received a standing ovation at her 2023 MAPS Conference keynote. Today she is recognized as an elder and wisdom keeper across the ever-expanding psychedelic landscape.

Michael Williams

Co-Founder

A commitment to innovation and continuous growth has marked Michael’s life journey. Growing up in San Diego during the 1960s, he was drawn to the freedom and creativity of surfing and skateboarding. He was introduced to psychedelics during that time and was inspired by their mystical and transformative qualities. His interests led him to the Native American Church and, later, to extended study in Mexico with Huichol (Wixáritari) healers.

As a father and family man, he shifted to entrepreneurship, creating groundbreaking consumer products while rising as a professional skateboarder. Later, he combined those passions to launch Gullwing Trucks, a cutting-edge skateboard company. In 1976 he won the World Downhill Skateboard Championships, going on to own and operate several businesses before retiring.

Michael’s deep interest in the healing and ceremonial use of psychoactive plants spans decades, alongside his close attention to the growing body of medical research demonstrating their efficacy in treating conditions such as alcohol and substance use disorders, PTSD, and other mental health challenges. Through Limina and in his personal life, he and his wife Adele Getty have been friends and supporters to MAPS, Heffter Research Institute, Usona, Beckley Foundation, the Nierika Medicine Institute, Psychedelic Science Funders Collaboration, and many other organizations advancing educational, humanitarian, and research-based progress for psychedelic practices. He remains committed to bringing thoughtful action, meaningful connection, and support for healing and renewal through his leadership with Limina Foundation.
